Maggie Burnette Stogner, Blue Bear Films

Margaret (Maggie) Burnette Stogner is a seasoned film, video, and new media professional with over 20 years of experience. She is founder and owner of Blue Bear Films, an independent film and media arts company providing development and production services. Recent projects include the world-touring King Tut exhibit; the Geographic Literacy campaign; and program development for a range of cable broadcasters. Previously, she was Senior Producer of National Geographic's documentary series Explorer and Ultimate Explorer, which won numerous Emmys, a Peabody and a Dupont award under her supervision. Margaret has a Masters in Communication/Documentary Film from Stanford University and began her career in San Francisco, where she gained experience on a wide range of nonfiction programs for PBS, NBC, TBS, as well as on features for Lucas Films. She mentors emerging filmmakers by teaching film and media arts at American University and serving on the Board of CINE. She is a recipient of the prestigious Nicholls Screenwriting Fellowship, Associate Director of the Center for Environmental Filmmaking, and a voting member of the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences.
