Rita Mullin, CINE President, Vice President of Development, TLC

Donald ThomsRita Mullin is Vice President of Development at TLC, a cable channel available in more than million homes in the US and Canada. She heads up the East Coast development team, helping set the creative direction for programming and developing new series and specials. She developed Jon & Kate Plus 8 and 18 Kids and Counting, two of the network's highest rated shows.

Prior to joining TLC, Mullin was Vice President of Development for the Discovery Health Channel. She also was an interactive executive producer for discoveryhealth.com, where she created online content.

Mullin began her career at Discovery Communications in 1996 as managing editor of Discovery Channel Monthly. She later became editorial director of Discovery Channel Publishing, where she oversaw editorial content for three lines of books, adult, travel, children's.

Before to joining Discovery, Mullin was a writer and editor for Time-Life Books, where she contributed to book series on subjects ranging from health and parenting to the history of computing.

In her spare time Mullin has written five children's books, including three biographies for middle-school children, Thomas Jefferson: Architect of Freedom (2007), Harry Houdini: Death-defying Showman (2007), and Anne Frank: Hidden Hope (2009). She is also the author of Who's For Dinner?, and Animalogy.

Mullin is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She holds a master's degree in English from the University of Virginia and a bachelor's degree (magna cum laude) in English from St. Francis University.
