Wendy Revel, Executive Director

Wendy Revel

A veteran of politics, law and theater (wait, that's redundant), Wendy has spent the past twenty years in Washington, DC, though she still carefully maintains her thick Georgia accent. She uses it to charm sponsors, engage the CINE Board, and keep order in a home with two teenaged boys, a dog, a cat and a guinea pig.

For more information about CINE, program ideas, sponsorship, or to see "y'all" in print, email Wendy at wendyrevel@cine.org.

Who is your favorite muppet?
Miss Piggy.

What is your most vivid childhood memory?
Standing in the backyard looking up at the stars with my big sister when I was about 6, and her telling me the stars I was seeing might not actually still be there because it took so long for light to reach the earth from outer space.

What film character's wardrobe would you raid?
Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) in Casablanca.

Betsy Walters, Director of Competitions

Betsy Walters

A native of New Hampshire, Betsy interned at CINE while a student in the Electronic Media program at George Washington University. She stubbornly refused to leave, and succeeded Bruce Bucklin as CINE's Director of Competitions in 2007 after a triumphant coup. Okay, he retired. Whatever. Betsy lives in downtown DC and watches way too many movies and TV shows, which she attributes to occupational research.

For questions about CINE's competitions (or to chat at length about New England sports teams), email Betsy at bwalters@cine.org.

Who’s your favorite villain?
Am I allowed to say the New York Yankees? No? Damn. Okay, then Heath Ledger’s Joker. What an innovative, epic villain.

There’s a zombie apocalypse! What do you do?
I don’t usually watch zombie movies, so I’m pretty sure that I would miss the warning signs and stare blankly, wondering what the hell was going on. The zombies would make swift work of me.

The 5 songs that would be on the soundtrack to the movie of your life:
I would change this every week, but at the moment:
"The Longest Time," Billy Joel - one of his lesser songs in the grand scheme, but my favorite song as a child.
"First Suite in E Flat," Gustav Holst - the best of the many, many classical pieces I played in my many, many concerts in high school and college symphonic bands.
"I'll Cover You (Reprise)," Rent - my favorite song from my favorite Broadway musical.
"Grace Kelly," Mika - a song so catchy it was my ringtone for a year, and I'm still not sick of it.
"Let It Be," The Beatles - the Beatles should be on every list, and this song always brings peace of mind.

Caffeine poison of choice?
Dirty Skim Chai Latte, extra naughty.

Dine in or carry out?
Cooked for.

What's the best Halloween costume you've ever worn?
One Halloween I was a bunch of grapes and wore a green sweat suit with blown up purple ballons safety pinned all over. It kind of sucked because I couldn't sit down.

Special thanks to Kerry G. Johnson for CINE's caricatures.
