Shadows of The Stadium
Category: Professional Non-Fiction Short Division, Human Interest
Summary:
Yankee Stadium. The Cathedral of American Sports. Imagine a 15-year old boy, in the 1950s, with a home-movie camera waiting outside Yankee Stadium to get lasting images of his boy-hood idols - Mantle, Martin, Stengel, etc - and then finding those movies 50 years later gathering dust in a closet. The 15-year old boy? His name is Les Marshak - one of the pre-eminent voice-over artists of American TV and Radio. In Shadows of the Stadium,we take Les back home - to the Bronx NY - and re-visit where he shot his 8mm film of the Yankees and where grew up - a few blocks away from Yankee Stadium.
